|| Mijan Akanda, Phulpur: The local administration in Phulpur of Mymensingh has begun preparations to observe July Uprising Day 2026, with a preparatory meeting bringing together government officials, political leaders and representatives of civil society to discuss the planned observance.The meeting was held on Sunday at 11:30 am in the conference room of the Phulpur Upazila Parishad. It was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadhana Tripura, while Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md. Shafiqul Islam conducted the proceedings.Among those present were Officer-in-Charge of Phulpur Police Station Firoz Hossain, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nadia Ferdousi, BNP Upazila Member Secretary Helal Uddin Helu, Senior Joint Convener Rokonuzzaman Rokon, Joint Conveners AKM Sirajul Haque, Kudrat Ali, and Wazedul Islam.Representatives of the local Jamaat-e-Islami, leaders of Khelafat Majlish, BNP and its associate bodies, officials from various government departments, and local journalists also attended the meeting.Participants exchanged views and offered recommendations on the programme schedule and arrangements for observing July Uprising Day on August 5 with due dignity and public participation.According to meeting participants, the discussion focused on ensuring coordinated efforts among government agencies, political stakeholders and community representatives to facilitate the smooth observance of the day across the upazila.The preparatory meeting concluded with a consensus on maintaining close coordination among all concerned to ensure that the commemorative programmes are implemented in an orderly and respectful manner.
