Mijan Akanda, Phulpur: A special cleanliness campaign was conducted in Phulpur Municipality of
Mymensingh on Saturday as part of efforts to prevent the spread of dengue.The campaign was organised by Phulpur Municipality and led by Municipal
Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam. The drive was carried out in the morning
around Balia More, where municipal workers and local residents took part in
cleaning activities.Among those present were Phulpur Upazila BNP Convener Alhaj Siddiqur Rahman,
Joint Convener AKM Sirajul Haque, former General Secretary of the Municipal BNP
Emran Hasan Pallab and Acting Ameer of the Upazila Jamaat-e-Islami Zakir
Hossain.Municipal Administrative Officer Golam Mostofa, Accounts Officer Raihan
Kaiser Jewel, Jubo Dal leader ABM Ariful Islam, Upazila Anti-Corruption
Committee President Abul Fattah Rahul, journalists Khalilur Rahman and Mizan
Akand, along with other local residents, also joined the campaign. As part of the operation, accumulated waste and dirt were removed from
different areas around Balia More. A municipal drain that had been filled and
blocked was also reopened to restore proper water flow.Local authorities said maintaining cleanliness and ensuring proper drainage
are important measures for preventing the breeding of mosquitoes and reducing the
risk of dengue transmission.
The campaign also sought to encourage residents to remain vigilant about
stagnant water and keep their surroundings clean to help prevent mosquito-borne
diseases.
