|| MM Rahmatullah: As efforts continue to strengthen the brotherly relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, a routine technical matter regarding diplomatic flight clearances has been unnecessarily blown out of proportion by a section of media in this subcontinent. In response to recent reports, Pakistan has issued a clear and measured clarification. Islamabad stated: "Pakistan maintains an unwavering commitment to international diplomatic norms and processes all requests for diplomatic flight and overflight clearances within a standardised, predictable timeframe, strictly in accordance with our established regulatory guidelines and civil aviation protocols."The statement further explained that the matter relates to "technical and procedural arrangements concerning flight routing and airspace permissions, which can occasionally require coordination among the relevant aviation and other authorities and may result in adjustments to flight schedules."This is a standard practice globally. Overflight and landing permissions for special and diplomatic flights involve multiple agencies, route validations, and security protocols. Minor delays or adjustments are procedural, not political. Pakistan has also reaffirmed the value it places on its relationship with Dhaka, stating, "Pakistan attaches high importance to its relations with Bangladesh, and it would therefore be appropriate to view the matter in its proper technical context and not attach undue significance to reports or narratives that may seek to misplace it to undermine our bilateral relations."Unfortunately, a few anti-Pakistan outlets this sub continent have tried to spread misinformation and publish propaganda regarding this issue, portraying a routine aviation procedure as a diplomatic rift. Such narratives are not new. Whenever Islamabad and Dhaka come closer, vested quarters attempt to vandalize the momentum through fabricated stories and selective leaks. It is well known that India and its broker media ecosystem often feel uncomfortable with growing Pakistan-Bangladesh cooperation. A strong, direct relationship between the two largest Muslim-majority countries in South Asia — based on trade, culture, education and mutual respect — does not suit those who benefited from decades of distance. The reality on the ground is different. Both Pakistan and Bangladesh are focusing on forward-looking engagement. Trade facilitation, educational exchanges, medical cooperation, and connectivity are being discussed with sincerity. The people of both countries share historical, cultural and faith-based bonds that no propaganda can erase. As a diplomatic correspondent who has long supported the development of Pakistan-Bangladesh relations, I believe it is crucial to see such technical matters in their proper context. Diplomacy works through established channels, not through media trials. Both Foreign Ministries are in regular contact and are handling the matter professionally. There is no need to attach political colour to a procedural issue. The Pakistan-Bangladesh partnership is too important to be derailed by misinformation.
