Desk Report: The Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) is not pursuing politics for sharing state power but aims to transform people's lives, establish their rights and dignity, and find practical solutions to the country's longstanding problems, party Chairman Mojibur Rahman Monju has said.He said politics should move beyond the competition for power and become an effective instrument for ensuring people's rights and improving their living standards."Many political parties have governed the country in the past, but they have failed to bridge the gap between people's expectations and what they actually receive. AB Party wants to address this gap," Manju said.He made the remarks while addressing a workers' meeting organised by AB Party's Dhaka Metropolitan South unit at the party's central office on Friday as the chief guest.Manju said AB Party must demonstrate through its actions why it deserves to be different from the numerous political parties in Bangladesh and why people should place their trust in it.He observed that political clashes, confrontations and power struggles among political parties were gradually driving ordinary people away from politics."People want to live in peace and enjoy their rights. They do not want to become involved in political conflicts and vendettas," he said.Pointing out that Bangladesh has around 100 political parties, of which approximately 60 are registered, the AB Party chairman said his party must earn public confidence through responsible conduct, honesty, sincerity and meaningful engagement with people. He stressed that winning people's love, trust and confidence was essential for AB Party to emerge as an independent and influential political force.Speaking as a special guest, the party's Joint General Secretary Barrister Zobayer Ahmed Bhuiyan said no political party became a major force overnight. Rather, parties gradually grow stronger by earning people's affection, confidence and trust. This requires strong determination, patience, sincerity and relentless hard work, he said, adding that party leaders and activists must demonstrate their principles through practical activities rather than merely speaking about their ideals and objectives.Bhuiyan also emphasised the need to ensure an environment in which people could independently pursue their businesses, professions and occupations without unnecessary obstacles. He said people's rights and freedoms must receive the highest priority and described party workers as the greatest strength of any political organisation.Calling for greater respect and recognition of grassroots activists, he said organisational unity could be strengthened through mutual trust, sincerity, respect and a spirit of cooperation. The meeting was chaired by AB Party Dhaka Metropolitan South Convener Abdul Halim Khokon.Leaders from different police station-level units of the metropolitan south took part in the meeting and discussed organisational activities, the responsibilities of party workers, ways to strengthen the party and future action plans.Among those who spoke were Jatrabari Thana Convener Mia Arif Sultan, Kadamtali Thana Convener Kazi Md Khokon, Hatirjheel Thana Convener Mohammad Riaz, Kotwali Thana Member Secretary Tanvir Ahmed Jewel, Paltan Thana Convener Md Mehedi Hasan Sohag, Khilgaon Thana Convener Mohammad Roni Gazi, Keraniganj Model Thana member Abu Raihan Zafar, Md Saiful Islam and Md Yahya. The meeting focused on strengthening the party's grassroots organisation and building public confidence through responsible politics and sustained engagement with ordinary people.+
