Diplomatic Desk: Bangladesh has reiterated its strong support for Saudi Arabia during a
critical period in the Middle East, while expressing keen interest in expanding
bilateral cooperation, particularly in economic and energy sectors.The message was conveyed during a meeting between Bangladesh’s Foreign
Adviser to the Prime Minister, Humaiun Kobir, and Saudi Vice Minister for
Foreign Affairs, Waleed Abdulkareem El Khureiji, held in Riyadh on Monday.Acting as a special envoy of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Adviser Kobir
handed over a message of solidarity addressed to Saudi Crown Prince and Prime
Minister, Mohammed bin Salman. The message reaffirmed Bangladesh’s firm support
for the Kingdom amid ongoing regional challenges.During the meeting, Kobir emphasized that both the government and people of
Bangladesh stand by Saudi
Arabia in this critical time. He also highlighted Dhaka’s strong interest in
strengthening and diversifying bilateral relations by exploring new avenues of
cooperation, especially in trade, investment, and energy collaboration.In addition, the adviser conveyed an official invitation from Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin
Abdulaziz Al Saud, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to visit Bangladesh at
a mutually convenient time.The Saudi Vice Minister welcomed the Bangladeshi envoy warmly and expressed appreciation
for Bangladesh’s continued support and solidarity. He also underscored the
importance Saudi Arabia places on its longstanding ties with Bangladesh.
The meeting is seen as part of Dhaka’s broader diplomatic efforts to deepen
engagement with key partners in the Middle East and enhance cooperation across
strategic sectors.
