Al-Mayami: The Stranded People’s General Rehabilitation Committee (SPGRC), a major organization of Urdu-speaking Biharis, has congratulated the BNP government after Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government is considering the rehabilitation of Urdu-speaking Bangladeshis.Speaking in the National Parliament session on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman said the government is thinking about the rehabilitation of Urdu-speaking Bangladeshi citizens. He assured a permanent solution for their rehabilitation and said the next steps would be taken after conducting necessary surveys. He added that the issue of taking initiatives for the permanent rehabilitation of Urdu-speaking Bangladeshi citizens living in various camps under Pallabi Police Station could be considered.In response, SPGRC Central General Secretary Harun-ur-Rashid thanked and congratulated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. He made a special appeal to the government to pay attention to Biharis living inhumanely in camps in Dhaka as well as those residing in 70 camps across 13 districts.He said, “My father, the late Nasim Khan, founder and chief patron of SPGRC, met with then BNP Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia several times. At that time, Begum Khaleda Zia said she would look into our matter. Now our Prime Minister is Tarique Rahman. We are hopeful that you will resolve the long-neglected problems of the Bihari community.” He also wished success for the BNP government. “Bangladesh Zindabad,” he added.
