DU holds workshop on strengthening Industry-Academia collaboration

DU Correspondent: Dhaka University hosted a day-long workshop on “Industry-Academia Collaboration for Effective Curriculum” on Wednesday at the Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban Auditorium.Organized by DU’s Institutional Quality Assurance Cell the workshop brought together faculty members and representatives from various industries and corporate houses to discuss ways to align university curricula with industry needs.Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. A. B. M. Obaidul Islam inaugurated the programme as chief guest. He stressed the need to deepen industry-academia collaboration to improve the university’s research quality and produce graduates equipped for the job market.“To become a research-based university, Dhaka University needs stronger support from its alumni and the country’s industrialists,” Prof. Islam said. He called for increased funding for quality research and urged regular curriculum updates to reflect industry demands.The Vice-Chancellor also emphasized the importance of rolling out Outcome-Based Education [OBE] across all departments to help students meet global challenges and apply academic knowledge in practical workplaces.The inaugural session was presided over by IQAC Director Prof. Dr. M. Rezaul Islam. Deans of all faculties, department chairpersons, and IQAC Additional Directors Prof. Dr. Md. Wahadoszamen and Prof. Dr. Md. Anwarul Islam attended. The programme was conducted by IQAC Additional Director Dr. Mustak Ibn Ayub.Participants said closer collaboration between universities and industry would help bridge the gap between academic training and workplace requirements.
