Zakir Hossin, Pirojpur: Pirojpur District Police have recovered 25 lost mobile phones with the help of information technology and handed them over to their rightful owners.The recovered phones were officially returned during a program held at 12:00 PM on Monday at the conference room of the Superintendent of Police Office. Police Superintendent Mohammad Monjur Ahmed Siddiqui handed over the mobile phones to their owners.During a press briefing, the Police Superintendent said that the District Police ICT and Media (Cyber Patrolling) Unit conducted a special operation to recover the devices. By reviewing General Diaries (GD) filed at different police stations regarding lost mobile phones and using advanced information technology, the police were able to trace and recover the phones from different parts of the country.Among the recovered devices, one mobile phone was recovered through Pirojpur Sadar Police Station, three through Zianagar Police Station, 10 through Mathbaria Police Station, eight through Nazirpur Police Station, two through Nesarabad Police Station, and one through Bhandaria Police Station.Police Superintendent Mohammad Monjur Ahmed Siddiqui said that crimes related to mobile phones and mobile banking are increasing alarmingly. To prevent such crimes, the district police cyber team is working with utmost importance and dedication. He urged people not to share personal or financial information with unknown callers and advised victims of fraud to immediately file a General Diary (GD) at the nearest police station.He further added, “District Police always stand beside the people. Our efforts to recover lost mobile phones and combat cybercrime will continue in the future as well.”Officer-in-Charge of the District Special Branch Shariful Islam, Acting Officer of the District ICT Unit Mizanur Rahman, members of the ICT Unit, and journalists from print and electronic media were present among others at the event.
