Press Release: The final and closing ceremony of the “Shahjalal Islami
Bank Open and Junior Tennis Tournament-2026” was organized on 20 May 2026 at
the National Tennis Complex, Ramna, Dhaka by the initiative of Bangladesh
Tennis Federation. The final and
closing ceremony of the 7-day tournament was organized with the Chief Guest,
Mr. Md. Aminul Haque, State Minister for Youth and Sports of the Government of
the People's Republic of Bangladesh, present as the Chief Guest and distributed
prizes among the winners. Mr. Mohammed Younus,
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC was present as
the special guest in the program. The ceremony was presided over by Mr. Abdul
Hai Sarkar, President of Bangladesh Tennis Federation.Among others Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmed
(Curren) General Secretary of Bangladesh Tennis Federation, Mr. Shafiqul
Islam Sohel Tournament Director, Mr. Zain Omar Tournament Referee, Mr. K. M. Harunur
Rashid, Head of Public Relations and Bank Foundation of the Corporate Head
Office of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. were present in the closing ceremony.A total of 159 tennis players from all over the country
participated in this tournament. This year's
competition featured games in a total of 8 categories. The events are Men's Singles, Women's Singles, Men's Doubles, Women's
Doubles, Under-12 Boys' Singles, Under-12 Girls' Singles, and Under-16 Boys'
Singles and Under-16 Girls' Singles. Each competition was held in a knock-out format.In his speech as the chief guest, Mr. Md. Aminul Haque
said, sincerely thanked the winners. He also encouraged those who lost to focus again. The government has already taken various activities for the development of
sports in the country. In his speech, the
chief guest sincerely thanked the players coming from different parts of the
country.In his speech as special guest, Mr. Mohammed Younus,
Chairman of the Board of Directors of Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC, said, that
Shahjalal Islami Bank has been conducting various CSR activities along with
banking activities. Moreover, the bank
has been playing a role in the development of sports in the country and will
continue to play a similar role in the near future, he mentioned in his speech.
