Rangpur Correspondent: A hotel employee was brutally beaten to death with a hammer following a dispute over spitting paan (betel leaf) stains in Rangpur, police said. One person has been arrested in connection with the killing.According to local residents and law enforcement officials, the incident occurred in front of an eatery in the city on Tuesday. The victim, a hotel worker, became involved in an argument with another individual over paan stains that had been spat in the area.Witnesses said the verbal altercation quickly escalated into violence. At one stage, the accused allegedly attacked the hotel employee with a hammer, striking him repeatedly on the head and other parts of the body.Hearing the commotion, locals rushed to the scene and rescued the critically injured victim. He was immediately taken to Rangpur Medical College Hospital (RMCH), where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.Police said the killing stemmed from a trivial dispute that turned deadly. Following the incident, a police team launched an operation and arrested the prime suspect within a short time.Confirming the matter, the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the concerned police station said the body had been sent to the RMCH morgue for an autopsy. He added that legal proceedings were underway and a murder case would be filed against the accused.The incident has sparked shock and concern among local residents, who described the killing as a senseless act of violence over a minor disagreement.
