Jamaat-e-Islami’s Dhaka Metropolitan units have undertaken extensive preparations
to ensure the successful holding of a rally announced by the 11-party alliance
scheduled for Tuesday.The rally has been
called in protest against what the alliance described as a culture of impunity,
alleged anti-state conspiracies, enforced disappearances, killings, repression
of opposition political activists, soaring commodity prices, deterioration of
law and order, and growing public hardship.A preparatory meeting
was held on Monday afternoon at the Dhaka Metropolitan South office of
Jamaat-e-Islami. The meeting was chaired by Jamaat’s Central Executive Council
Member Mubarak Hossain.Among those present
were Central Working Committee Member and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan
South Educationist Abdus Sabur Fakir, Central Working Committee Member and
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka Metropolitan South Advocate Dr. Helal Uddin, Central
Working Committee Member and Assistant Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan South
Muhammad Delawar Hossain, Central Working Committee Member and Assistant
Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North Dr. Fakhruddin Manik, and Central
Majlis-e-Shura Member and Assistant Secretaries of Dhaka Metropolitan South Dr.
Abdul Mannan and Shamsur Rahman.The meeting was also
attended by Dhaka Metropolitan South Working Committee members, including
Professor Mokarram Hossain Khan, Engineer Sheikh Al Amin, Maulana Faridul
Islam, Advocate S.M. Kamal Uddin, Professor Nur Nabi Manik, Abdus Salam, Dr.
Atiar Rahman, Sheikh Sharif Uddin Ahmad, Dr. Mobarak Hossain, Aminur Rahman,
Kamrul Ahsan Hasan, Syed Sirajul Haque, Abdul Hai, Shahin Ahmed Khan, Maulana
Shariful Islam, as well as Metropolitan Assistant Publicity Secretary Abdus
Sattar Sumon and Assistant Office Secretary Md. Mujibur Rahman.In addition, directors
and assistant directors of various metropolitan zones, along with members of
the Majlis-e-Shura, participated in the meeting.The leaders discussed
organizational measures and coordination efforts aimed at ensuring a large
turnout and the smooth conduct of the alliance’s scheduled protest rally. They
called upon party leaders and activists to play an active role in making the
programme a success.
