|| Syed Atik, Gazipur: Police have arrested 16 people in Tongi, under Gazipur City, on allegations of involvement in mugging and drug trading. The operation was conducted on Thursday in the Ershadnagar and Bank field slum areas. During the raid, locally made weapons were also seized.The arrested individuals are: Shakil, Joy, Zahid, Hridoy, Shanto, Sohag, Mamun, Nasir, Khalid Hasan, Shiva, Parvez, Masum, Kiran, Mukhtar, Mainuddin Rabbi, and Joy.Police said that the operation was carried out early Thursday morning in the Ershadnagar and Bank field`s slums. During the drive, several houses were searched and locally made weapons were recovered. At that time, 16 individuals were detained. Later, they were taken to the police station and questioned.Regarding the matter, Tongi East Thana Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mehedi Hasan said that cases have been filed against the detainees and they have been sent to court.
