Syed Atik, Gazipur: Young organizers from various social and
cultural organizations gathered in Gazipur for a workshop emphasizing their
role in promoting sustainable development and institutional good governance. The workshop, titled
"Sustainable Development and Institutional Good Governance: The Role of Young
Organizers," was organized by the Youth Engagement and Support (YES) Group
and the Satark Nagarik Committee (SNK), Gazipur, at the Nightingale Lounge on
Tuesday morning. The event was chaired
by SNK President Jobeda Akter, while Rashiduzzaman Liton, Area Coordinator of
Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), moderated the session. Around 50
representatives from different social, cultural, and youth organizations
participated in the programme. The workshop was
facilitated by Md Atikur Rahman, Coordinator of TIB. Md Mahanul Haque, Cluster
Coordinator, outlined the objectives of the programme, while Faizunnesa Lovely,
Convener of the YES Subcommittee, delivered the welcome address. Among others present
were SNK Vice-President Shekanul Islam Shahi and members of the YES Group. The discussions focused
on building a discrimination-free, corruption-free and equitable society
inspired by the spirit of Bangladesh's Liberation War. Participants stressed
the importance of strengthening the rule of law, transparency, accountability
and integrity as key pillars of good governance. The workshop also
featured an interactive discussion on implementing the 17 Sustainable
Development Goals (SDGs) through active youth engagement and coordinated
community initiatives. At the end of the
programme, participants reaffirmed their commitment to working collectively to
advance the SDGs and promote transparency, accountability and sustainable
development in their respective communities.
