|| Rayhan Ahmed, Mymensingh: The Mymensingh Divisional Tree Fair was inaugurated on Saturday at the Circuit House premises in Mymensingh, with a renewed call to promote tree plantation and environmental conservation across the country.The fair has been jointly organized by the Mymensingh District Administration and the Mymensingh Forest Division under the theme, "Let's Beautify the Country Through Tree Plantation, Bangladesh First."The inaugural ceremony began with a colorful rally, followed by a discussion session attended by government officials, forest authorities, and representatives from various public institutions.State Minister for Disaster Management and Relief M. Iqbal Hossain inaugurated the fair as the chief guest. Speaking on the occasion, he emphasized the importance of expanding tree plantation efforts to address climate change, protect biodiversity, and ensure a greener future for the next generation.Among the special guests were Abu Wahab Akand Wahid, Member of Parliament for Mymensingh Sadar; Mohammad Rukunuzzaman Rokon, Administrator of Mymensingh City Corporation; Md. Saifur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner of Mymensingh; and Mohammad Kamrul Hasan, Superintendent of Police, Mymensingh.The welcome address was delivered by Kazi Muhammad Nurul Karim, Divisional Forest Officer of the Mymensingh Forest Division.The event was chaired by Golam Masum Pradhan, Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Mymensingh.Officials of the Forest Department, range officers, beat officers, representatives of various government departments, and members of the media also attended the inaugural programme.The divisional tree fair aims to encourage public participation in afforestation initiatives, raise environmental awareness, and promote the planting of diverse tree species throughout the region.
