Jamaat calls for implementation of July Charter in discussion meeting

Desk Report: Jamaat-e-Islami Bangladesh held a seminar on the occasion of the country's Independence Day and National Day, calling for the implementation of the July Charter, a document outlining reforms to the country's constitution.

Addressing the seminar, Jamaat-e-Islami Amir and Leader of the Opposition in the parliament Dr. Shafiqur Rahman said that the country's independence had not brought the desired benefits to the people due to the incompetence of those in power. He emphasized the need for a new constitution that would ensure the rights of the people and bring about true independence.

Former MP and Jamaat-e-Islami Secretary General Miah Golam Parwar said that the July Charter was a result of the people's struggle and called for its implementation. He urged the government to form a constitutional reform council to implement the charter.

Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Col. (Retd.) Oli Ahmed said that the country's independence had not brought about the desired change, and the people were still suffering from inequality and injustice. He called for the implementation of the July Charter to bring about true independence and democracy.

The seminar was attended by several Jamaat-e-Islami leaders, including MP Saiful Alam Khan Milan, who warned that if the July Charter was not implemented, the people would take to the streets again.

The speakers at the seminar emphasized the need for a new constitution that would ensure the rights of the people and bring about true independence, and called for the implementation of the July Charter to achieve this goal.
