Veteran Freedom Fighter and Prominent Politician Md Shahidullah Passed Away

Syed Atik, Gazipur: Md. Shahidullah, a renowned social worker, education enthusiast, politician, and veteran freedom fighter, has passed away. He died on March 26 while undergoing treatment for liver cirrhosis at the age of 70.

Shahidullah was the Science and Technology Secretary of Gazipur City Awami League. Apart from politics, he was also involved in various social activities. In the 1980s, he worked tirelessly to reduce child and maternal mortality rates in the Tongi and Gacha areas as an associate of the Bangladesh Association for Maternal and Neonatal Health (BAMANEH).

He founded the Mun Light High School in Targach to promote education and served as the Member Secretary of Abdur Rashid Bhuiyan Memorial Trust, Chairman of Kunia Pachar Targach Central Jame Mosque, and Founding General Secretary of Kunia Pachar Suruj Ali Rahmaniya Madrasa and Orphanage.

Shahidullah was also a former General Secretary of the Gazipur District Communist Party and retired as the Manager of Uttara Bank, Motijheel Branch.

Various political, social, and cultural organizations, including the Freedom Fighter Association, Abdur Rashid Bhuiyan Memorial Trust, Tongi Press Club, and Sammilit Sangsad Jot, Tongi, have expressed their deep condolences on his passing.
