Bangladesh conveys solidarity to UAE amid ongoing conflict

Diplomatic Correspondent: Bangladesh has reaffirmed its strong solidarity with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) amid the ongoing conflict situation, as the Foreign Affairs Adviser to the Prime Minister, Humaiun Kobir, held a high-level meeting with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan on Wednesday evening.

During the meeting, Kobir delivered a personal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. In the message, the Prime Minister expressed Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the UAE leadership, government, and its people in light of recent attacks that have resulted in casualties, injuries, and damage to property.

The Prime Minister conveyed deep concern over the loss of lives and extended heartfelt sympathies to those affected. He also appreciated the UAE government’s continued support in hosting a large Bangladeshi expatriate community and its efforts to ensure their safety and well-being during the crisis.

Reiterating Bangladesh’s readiness to assist, the Prime Minister noted that Dhaka stands prepared to extend any necessary support if required by the UAE authorities. The letter also included an invitation for President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time.

In response, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan expressed condolences over the deaths of two Bangladeshi expatriates in the recent attacks and reaffirmed the UAE government’s commitment to safeguarding all residents, regardless of nationality. He also thanked Bangladesh for its solidarity and continued support.

During the discussions, Kobir commended the UAE leadership for exercising restraint and emphasized the importance of resolving conflicts through dialogue and diplomatic engagement. Both sides also reviewed the strong and growing bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the UAE, reaffirming their commitment to enhancing cooperation across key sectors.

The visit forms part of Kobir’s broader diplomatic tour of Gulf countries as Special Envoy of the Prime Minister, aimed at conveying Bangladesh’s messages to regional leaders and strengthening ties with key partners in the Middle East.
