MM Rahmatullah: The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has received a petition seeking a formal investigation into alleged large-scale bribery involving former interim government adviser Asif Nazrul and his personal secretary Md Masum, linked to irregularities in sub-registrar transfers within the law ministry.The complaint was filed on Wednesday by Barrister M Sarwar Hossain, a Supreme Court lawyer, at ACC headquarters.
The filing included a published media report detailing the alleged financial misconduct during the tenure of the Muhammad Yunus-led interim administration.According to the complaint, between October 2024 and April 2025, approximately 282 out of the country’s 403 sub-registrars were transferred, with around 200 officials allegedly obtaining preferred postings by making illicit payments. Individual payments reportedly ranged between 50 lakh and 60 lakh taka per transfer, cumulatively amounting to hundreds of crores. The complaint further alleges that transfer orders were sometimes suspended when promised payments were not received.The petition highlights a systematic breach of established transfer protocols, noting that lower-grade officials alleged.
