Martyred Intellectuals Day was celebrated with due dignity in Kashiani, Gopalganj. On the occasion of the day, the upazila administration organized a floral tribute at the Bhatiapara and Fukra massacre memorials at 9 am on December 14 to pay respect to the martyred intellectuals. Later, a discussion meeting on martyred intellectuals and freedom fighters was held at the Upazila Parishad meeting room at 10:30 am.In addition, prayers and supplications were held at all religious places of worship for the peace of the souls of the martyred intellectuals, and candles were lit in the premises of the Upazila Shaheed Minar in the evening. The discussion meeting was chaired by Upazila Executive Officer Md. Shahin Mia and moderated by Md. Nizam Uddin, Assistant Teacher of MA Khalek Government Girls High School. Other speakers included Assistant Commissioner Land (AC Land) Md. Atahar Shakil, freedom fighter Afzal Hossain, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md. Mahfuzur Rahman, Agriculture Officer Kazi Ejazul Karim, President of Upazila Press Club Md. Shahidul Alam Munna, Bengali Professor of Pinglia Siddiquia Kamil Madrasa Sultanul Alam Khan, Headmaster of G.C. Pilot High School Md. Nur Alam Talukder, General Secretary of Bangladesh Government Primary Teachers Association Kashiani Syed Monirul Hasan Bulbul, among others. In addition, Animal Resources Officer Dr. Subhankar Dutta, Health Officer Dr. Aminul Islam, Secondary Education Officer Mahfuza Begum, Engineer Sajal Kumar Dutta, Project Implementation Officer SM Monowar Mahmud, along with officials, teachers and students from various departments were present.
