Didar Elected BSS Unit Chief, Rajib Deputy Chief of DUJ
Special Correspondent: Didarul Alam Didar has been elected as Unit Chief and G M Rajib Hossain as Deputy Unit Chief of the Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) unit of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).In direct voting by members, Chief Reporter (Bangla) Didarul Alam Didar was elected Unit Chief and Chief Reporter (English) G M Rajib Hossain was elected Deputy Unit Chief for a two-year term.The election was held today, Thursday, in the BSS boardroom under the supervision of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).In the secret ballot, Didarul Alam Didar secured 18 votes to win the Unit Chief post. His rival Manikul Azad received 6 votes. For Deputy Unit Chief, G M Rajib Hossain was elected with 19 votes, while Rashida Afzalunnesa got 3 votes.The election was conducted by DUJ Organizing Secretary M Saeed Khan under the supervision of DUJ General Secretary Khurshid Alam.The pre-election meeting was chaired by DUJ President Shahidul Islam. Others who spoke included DUJ Treasurer Khandaker Alamgir Hossain, former BSS News Editor Momtaz Bilkis Banu, former BSS Unit Chiefs Abul Kalam Manik, Kazim Reza and Anwar Uddin, Jatiya Press Club Treasurer Bakhtiar Rana, former Dhaka Reporters Unity President Mursalin Nomani, former DUJ Treasurer Zahirul Haque Rana, Jatiya Press Club Management Committee Member Momin Hossain, and DUJ Executive Member Anwarul Haque.Also present at the election were BSS News Editor and senior journalist Golam Ahad, BSS Chief News Editor Akhtaruzzaman, former Chief News Editors Rahim Uddin and Harun-Al Nasif, Deputy Chief News Editors Abdul Baten and Junan Nashit, and Special Correspondent Moazzem Hossain Chowdhury Rokon, among others.
