Free Seed and Fertilizer Distribution Program Inaugurated in Pirojpur

Zakir Hossain, Pirojpur: A free seed and chemical fertilizer distribution program has been inaugurated among small and marginal farmers in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila to boost the cultivation and production of Aush paddy during the Kharif-1 season of the 2025–26 fiscal year.The program was jointly organized by the Sadar Upazila Administration and the Department of Agricultural Extension at the Shaheed Omar Faruk Auditorium in Pirojpur Sadar Upazila on Monday (April 13) morning.Pirojpur Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Abu Sayeed attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.In his speech, he said that the current government is agriculture-friendly and is giving increased priority to the agricultural sector. He also highlighted various initiatives taken by the government, including the Krishak Card, to enhance agricultural production and urged farmers to adopt modern agricultural technologies.Pirojpur Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mamunur Rashid presided over the meeting. Among others present were Pirojpur District BNP Member Secretary SM Saidul Islam Kismat, Sadar Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Shawkat Hossain, District Jamaat-e-Islami Assistant Secretary Sheikh Abdur Razzak, and other officials.In his concluding remarks, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mamunur Rashid emphasized that cooperation from all is essential to make Pirojpur Sadar Upazila an ideal upazila in the agricultural sector. Agricultural officials and local farmer representatives were also present at the event.
