Bakery fined Tk 40,000 for using counterfeit brand packaging in Cumilla

Cumilla Correspondent: The National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate (NCRPD) has fined a bakery and confectionery manufacturer Tk 40,000 for producing food items in unhygienic conditions and marketing products using counterfeit packaging of a popular brand in Cumilla.

The enforcement drive was conducted on Wednesday at Miami Bakery, located in Baro Alampur (Halima Nagar) area under Adarsha Sadar Upazila of the district.

During the inspection, officials found evidence that bakery products were being manufactured in an unhealthy and unsafe environment. The team also detected the use of unauthorized flavouring agents and found that the establishment had allegedly copied the packaging of the popular “All Time Milk” brand and marketed products under its own name.

The authorities said these activities constituted violations of several provisions of the Consumer Rights Protection Act, 2009. As a result, the bakery was fined Tk 40,000.

The drive was led by Md. Kawsar Mia, Assistant Director of the National Consumer Rights Protection Directorate in Cumilla. Office Assistant Farida Yasmin and sample collector Md. Sakib were also present during the operation.
