Afzal to Lead REHAB as New Executive Body Takes Charge for 2026–2028

MM Rahmatullah: Dr Md Ali Afzal has been elected President of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB) for the 2026–2028 term, ushering in a new leadership team following a peaceful and competitive biennial election.

According to an official press release, the results were announced by the Election Commission after the completion of manual vote counting at around 1:00 am. The day-long polling concluded without incident, reflecting strong participation from members of the association.

Dr Afzal secured 232 votes to clinch the presidency, while Abdur Razzaq was elected Senior Vice-President with 216 votes.

In other key posts, Mohammad Akter Biswas won the position of Vice-President-1 with 250 votes, followed by Abu Khalid Md Barkatullah as Vice-President-2 with 255 votes and A.F.M. Ubaidullah as Vice-President-3 with 234 votes.

Dr Md Harun Or Rashid was elected Vice-President (Finance), securing 262 votes. Meanwhile, Mohammad Morshedul Hasan garnered the highest tally among vice-presidential candidates with 317 votes to become Vice-President (Chattogram).

For the director positions, Mohammad Labib Billah emerged as the top vote-getter with 338 votes. Umme Jahan Arzu and Habibur Rahman Habib also secured strong support, receiving 304 votes each.

The newly elected body is expected to steer REHAB through the next two years, addressing challenges in the housing sector while promoting sustainable growth and investment in Bangladesh’s real estate industry.
