Pakistan’s diplomatic gains reshape regional dynamics as US confidence in India wanes: Report

CN DESK: The international journal “Asia Times” in a recent report has said that after improving relations with Pakistan, it is becoming difficult for the United States to trust India. The report said that Pakistan played an important diplomatic role during the recent tension between Iran and the United States and took a key position in advancing negotiations between the two countries. In contrast, India’s diplomacy was described as passive and silent in this matter.

According to the journal, Indian Prime Minister Modi limited most of his talks with US President Trump to oil and supply systems, while Pakistan was busy trying to establish peace and ceasefire in the region. The report said that Pakistan was continuously active in diplomatic contacts after the start of the recent war between Iran and the United States. Pakistan’s political and military leadership played an important role in making the negotiations possible by maintaining contacts with the top officials of both countries.

These efforts of Pakistan were also appreciated at the global level. Various world leaders, including US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Peshmerga, have described Pakistan’s role for peace in the region as positive. Trump has praised the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir several times in recent days.

On the other hand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is facing criticism from opposition leaders and the media in India, where his foreign policy is being described as ineffective in the current situation.

According to analysts, changing diplomatic priorities and roles in the region can have a profound impact on the relations of world powers and Pakistan’s growing role may become more important in the future.
