Hizla Correspondent: A workers’ rally and colorful procession was held in Hizla Upazila under the initiative of the Bangladesh Sramik Kalyan Federation, Hizla Upazila branch, marking International Workers’ Day.The workers’ gathering took place at 9:00am on Friday at the Upazila Sadar bus stand. Event was presided over by Upazila President Md. Khalilur Rahman and moderated by Upazila Secretary Md. Jahangir Hossain.Md. Mujahidul Islam Yusuf, Finance Secretary of the federation’s Barishal District branch, attended as chief guest. Special guests included Federation Upazila Adviser Maulana Harun-or-Rashid and former Barajalia Union Chairman Sahe Alam Chowdhury Samu.Others who attended and spoke included Federation Upazila Vice President Md. Helal Uddin, Finance Secretary Md. Abdul Kader, Guabaria Union President Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Hizla Gourabdi Union President Md. Shibli Numan, Rickshaw-Van Workers’ Union President Md. Riaz Uddin, Building Construction Workers’ Union General Secretary Md. Abul Kashem, and Fishermen Workers’ Union General Secretary Md. Anwar Hossain, among others.Leaders from various levels of the federation’s upazila, union, and trade union units, along with workers from different professions, were present at the rally.After the gathering, a colorful procession with nearly 200 vans paraded through the main roads of the upazila and the Hizla-Barishal-Dhaka highway, ending at Kauria Bazar.
