Gonotantri Party holds May day rally, demands Tk 25000 minimum wage for workers

MM Rahmatullah: Under the slogan “Healthy Workers, Hardworking Hands Will Bring a New Dawn,” the Gonotantri Party organized a rally and procession in front of the Jatiya Press Club at 10:00 am on Friday, May 1, 2026, marking historic May Day.

The program was presided over by Advocate M A Gani, President of the party’s Dhaka City Committee.

Party Presidium Member Ashok Dhar delivered the welcome address. Joint General Secretary Elias Kabir, Labour Affairs Secretary Idris Ali Molla, and Dhaka City General Secretary Minhaz Selim also spoke at the event.

Speakers at the rally said the struggle of working people “continues and will continue.” They demanded that the minimum wage for workers be raised to Tk 25,000, citing the rising cost of essential commodities. They also called for the proper utilization of the Workers’ Welfare Fund.

Chanting _“Long Live Great May Day,”_ Gonotantri Party leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the rights and dignity of laborers.
