Saeed Chowdhury: Locals have raised allegations of drug trafficking and criminal activities against a group, including four sisters and two brothers, in the Turag Bazar area of Purbo Arichpur Nodir in Ward No. 45 under Tongi Purbo Police Station, Gazipur City Corporation.According to residents, the illegal activities are being carried out openly from morning until late at night in several spots. Drug transactions are reportedly taking place regularly near Sarkar Bari Christian School, America’s Sohag’s house, Laili’s house, and around Turag Bazar. Locals allege that some female members of the group are openly involved in controlling and selling drugs at these locations.Residents claim the group includes Nure Alam, Dipu, Nuruzzaman, Akash Alam, and others, along with Rahima, Nasima, Dipa, Taslima, Shiuli, Saied Ali, and his wife Shanta. They further allege that the group uses the names of various political parties to exert influence in the area.Victims say anyone who protests faces attacks, vandalism, looting, and various forms of harassment. Several residents said they have also received death threats. Multiple complaints have already been filed with Tongi Purbo Police Station, locals added.Residents also claimed that clashes between two groups have occurred over property disputes. Although some of the accused are reportedly in hiding, their activities have not stopped, according to allegations.Locals are calling for urgent administrative intervention, warning that failure to take prompt action could lead to a major incident at any time.Meanwhile, in the same area, a man named Baista Shamim has been accused of illegally occupying railway land to set up shops and engaging in mugging. This has also caused concern among residents.No official statement has yet been received from law enforcement agencies regarding these allegations. However, locals have demanded a swift investigation and strict action.
