Reception Held in Phulpur for ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ Winners

Md Mijanur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur: To build skilled athletes from the grassroots to the national level and implement the government’s election manifesto, the nationwide ‘Notun Kuri Sports’ program is underway. The Mymensingh district-level Notun Kuri Sports competition has already been held.

Athletes, coaches, and managers from Fulpur Upazila who won in various events at the district level met with Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadia Islam Sima for greetings and an exchange of views. On Tuesday, May 12, at 4:00 PM, a ceremony was held in the upazila hallroom where the winners were felicitated with flowers and honors.

The event, presided over by UNO Sadia Islam Sima, was attended by the Upazila Youth Development Officer, Upazila Project Implementation Officer Begum Shahin, Member Secretary of the Upazila Sports Association Jewel Hasan, General Secretary of the Upazila Scouts and former member of the Sports Association Nazrul Islam, senior journalist Md. Khalilur Rahman, Sports Association member Mazharul Islam Shohel, President of the Upazila Anti-Corruption Committee and sports personality Abul Fattah Md. Zahed Ali Rahul, journalist Mizanur Rahman Akanda, teachers Saleh Ahmed and Shibbir Ahmed, Chhatra Dal leader Mobarak Sikder, along with the winning athletes, their coaches and managers, and teachers from various educational institutions.

In the district-level Notun Kuri competition, students from various educational institutions of Fulpur Upazila participated in 8 events and achieved remarkable success. Fulpur Upazila became champion in Kabaddi (boys) and Badminton (doubles), and won 4 medals in Martial Arts Wushu single fight and 6 medals in swimming.

During the greetings exchange, UNO Sadia Islam Sima handed over roses and special gifts to the winners. Expressing joy over the students’ achievement, she said, “Sports help in developing students’ intellect and character. You have brought honor to Fulpur by winning 13 medals at the district level. The upazila administration will always stand by you to continue this trend.”
