CN Desk: Khelafat Majlis on Wednesday formally launched its 36-day programme marking the second anniversary of the July Mass Uprising, urging the implementation of the July National Charter and putting forward a seven-point set of demands.
The inaugural programme was held after Asr prayers at the north gate of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, where the party distributed leaflets highlighting its demands. The event was inaugurated by Khelafat Majlis Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Qader.

As part of the anniversary observance, the party's Dhaka North Metropolitan unit organised separate programmes earlier in the day. After Fajr prayers, leaders visited the grave of July uprising martyr Jaber Ibrahim in Uttara, while another delegation paid tribute at the grave of martyr Mir Mugdha in the afternoon and offered prayers for all those who lost their lives during the movement.
The programmes were attended by Nayeb-e-Ameer Maulana Ahmad Ali Qasemi, Assistant Organising Secretary Shahabuddin Ahmad Khandaker, Dhaka North Metropolitan President Maulana Saifuddin Ahmad Khandaker, General Secretary Principal Maulana Azizul Haque and other party leaders.
According to a circular issued on June 24 and signed by Secretary General Dr. Ahmad Abdul Qader, all organisational branches have been instructed to observe a 36-day series of programmes to commemorate the anniversary.
The schedule includes special prayers for the martyrs of the uprising, visits to the injured and support initiatives for their families, public outreach campaigns, rallies and processions demanding the implementation of the July National Charter and the speedy trial of those accused of crimes during the previous government. Other planned activities include wall publications, documentary and video exhibitions on the uprising, tree plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns and blood donation programmes.
On the occasion of the anniversary, Khelafat Majlis also reiterated its seven-point call, demanding implementation of the July National Charter in line with what it described as the "people's mandate," speedy trials over alleged killings, enforced disappearances, corruption and other crimes committed during the previous government, immediate opening of the July Memorial Museum to the public, advanced medical treatment and security for those injured in the uprising, and maximum assistance for the families of the martyrs and injured through the July Foundation.
The party also called for an end to border killings and alleged push-ins by India's Border Security Force (BSF), as well as measures to prevent what it termed Indian dominance and cultural aggression.
