Shamim Rahman, Rajshahi Bureau: A new platform for online and multimedia journalists, the Reporters of Online and Multimedia Organisation (ROMO), has been launched in Rajshahi with the formation of a seven-member convening committee.The committee was formed unanimously at a meeting of online and multimedia journalists working in Rajshahi at a conference room in the city on Wednesday afternoon. The meeting was presided over by Mohammad Hujaifa, a multimedia reporter of Manabkantha.Hujaifa has been named the convener of the newly formed committee, while Mohammad Tuhin Ali, a multimedia reporter of Bangladesh Times, has been appointed member secretary.Naim Hossain, a multimedia reporter of Kaler Kantho, and Salman Hossain, a multimedia reporter of Mirror News, have been made joint conveners.The other members of the committee are Shamim Rahman, multimedia reporter of Dainik Gonojagaran; Zubayer Ali, multimedia reporter of Daily Citizen Voice; and Turin Alam, multimedia reporter of RC News.During the meeting, the journalists discussed a range of professional issues, mutual cooperation and matters concerning the interests of online and multimedia journalists working in Rajshahi.They also exchanged views on improving professional standards, strengthening unity and cooperation among journalists, and making the organisation's activities more effective and dynamic.The meeting also discussed ROMO's future programmes. Based on the views of the participating journalists, the meeting decided to hold an election within the next three months to form a full-fledged executive committee of the organisation.Those involved in the initiative said ROMO has begun its journey with the aim of protecting the professional interests of online and multimedia journalists in Rajshahi, promoting mutual cooperation and building an effective and united platform for journalists.They expressed hope that the new organisation would contribute to professional development and strengthen cooperation among journalists working in the rapidly evolving online and multimedia news sector.
