PM Tarique seeks stronger cooperation for sustainable repatriation solutionDiplomatic Correspondent: Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Tuesday called upon the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to extend continued support and cooperation toward a sustainable resolution of the Rohingya crisis.He made the appeal during a courtesy meeting with ambassadors and high commissioners of OIC countries stationed in Dhaka at the Prime Minister’s Office at the Secretariat.During the meeting, representatives of the OIC member countries congratulated Tarique Rahman on assuming office as Prime Minister and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations with Bangladesh across multiple sectors.The diplomats expressed keen interest in expanding cooperation in investment, trade, education, healthcare, textiles and pharmaceuticals, while also pledging continued support for Bangladesh in various development areas.Welcoming the positive stance of the OIC countries, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman thanked them on behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh for their longstanding friendship and cooperation.Recalling the historic ties established during the tenure of martyred President Ziaur Rahman, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh highly values its relations with the Muslim world and remains optimistic that these bonds will deepen further in the coming years.He also stressed the importance of enhancing people-to-people contact among OIC nations and urged the international community to maintain support for efforts aimed at resolving the protracted Rohingya crisis.Ambassadors and high commissioners from Saudi Arabia, Türkiye, Palestine, Algeria, Brunei, Egypt, Indonesia, Kuwait, Malaysia, the Maldives, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates attended the meeting. Heads of missions from Iran, Iraq and Libya also participated.Prime Minister’s Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir, Foreign Secretary Md. Farhadul Islam and Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon were present at the meeting.
