Mijan Akanda, Phulpur: Leaders and activists of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and its affiliated organisations on Monday observed the 16th death anniversary of former BNP leader and ex-chairman of the undivided Phulpur-Tarakanda upazila, the late Abdul Matin Mati, through a series of commemorative programmes in Phulpur.
The observance included a mourning rally, a discussion meeting and a prayer
session organised by the Phulpur Upazila and Municipal units of Jubo Dal.
The mourning rally marched through the main streets of the municipal town
before concluding at Anjuman Market, where the discussion and prayer programme
was held.
The meeting was chaired by Waheduzzaman Mithun, a member of the Mymensingh
North District Jubo Dal, while Jubo Dal leader AKM Ariful Haque conducted the
proceedings.
Among those attending were former Phulpur Upazila BNP President Advocate
Syed Enayetur Rahman, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Emdad Hossain Khan, former Municipal
BNP General Secretary Emran Hasan Pallab and AKM Azharul Haque Ripon.
The programme was also attended by Mymensingh North District Swechchhasebak
Dal Member Secretary Mohibul Haque Tutul, Upazila BNP Joint Convener Iqbal
Hossain, Municipal BNP Joint Convener AKM Sadekul Haque, Jubo Dal leader
Zakaria, Mymensingh North District Swechchhasebak Dal Office Secretary Faruk
Ahmed and leaders and activists from the BNP and its associate bodies.
Speakers at the discussion recalled Abdul Matin Mati's political career and
contributions to local politics, paying tribute to his leadership and public
service. Special prayers were offered, seeking eternal peace for the departed
leader.
