Mijaur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur, Mymensingh: Members of the Bangladesh Mofussil Journalists Forum (BMSF), Phulpur upazila unit, have extended financial assistance to Shabana, a distressed woman struggling to support her family amid severe financial hardship.The journalists handed over cash assistance to Shabana on Sunday afternoon from the organisation’s own welfare fund, in an effort to provide immediate support to the vulnerable family.The assistance was handed over in the presence of BMSF Phulpur unit President Mizanur Rahman Akand, General Secretary Abdur Rahman Rony, Senior Vice-President Mahmudul Hasan Reza, Vice-President Selim Rana, Joint General Secretary Zahidul Haque Imon, Organising Secretary Nazmul Hasan Rajon, Treasurer Billal Hossain, Executive Member Hadiatul Islam, and local residents.Shabana, a resident of Boro Putia village under Singheswar Union of Phulpur upazila, had been facing immense difficulties in maintaining her household due to a lack of financial resources. Her husband is a person with disabilities, while she also has children to support.With no adequate source of income, the family was struggling to meet even its basic needs. After learning about Shabana’s plight, members of the BMSF Phulpur unit decided to come forward with assistance from their own financial fund.The initiative reflects the humanitarian role that journalists and community organisations can play beyond their professional responsibilities. At a time when many vulnerable families face financial uncertainty, such acts of solidarity can provide both practical assistance and a sense of hope.Local residents appreciated the journalists’ initiative and expressed hope that other individuals and organisations would also come forward to support disadvantaged families like Shabana’s.For Shabana and her family, the assistance may be modest, but it has brought a much-needed message of compassion—that they are not alone in their struggle.
