MP Initiates Installation of 60 Deep Tube Wells in Bauphal

Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) MP Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud has distributed 60 deep tube wells for installation at educational institutions, mosques, temples and marketplaces across the upazila to ensure access to safe drinking water.

Bauphal, Nov 6: Patuakhali-2 (Bauphal) Member of Parliament Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud has taken an initiative to ensure safe drinking water for local people by installing deep tube wells at various social institutions across the upazila.

As part of the initiative, he distributed 60 tube wells on Friday morning for installation at educational institutions, mosques, temples and marketplaces. Local Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and prominent people from different professions attended the distribution programme.

Addressing the event as the chief guest, Dr Masud said the initiative had been taken to ensure access to safe and pure drinking water for the people of Bauphal.

He said deep tube wells would be installed wherever necessary across the upazila. Initially, priority would be given to educational institutions, mosques, temples and marketplaces, while the programme would gradually be expanded to every locality.

He further said the initiative was designed to protect public health, ensure access to safe drinking water and improve people's quality of life.

Highlighting the importance of safe drinking water in educational institutions, the MP said thousands of students, teachers and employees visit these institutions every day. Ensuring access to pure drinking water would benefit them and help reduce the risk of waterborne diseases.

Similarly, mosques, temples and other religious institutions receive large numbers of worshippers and visitors every day. Deep tube wells at these locations would enable Muslims, devotees and visitors to access safe drinking water conveniently for their daily needs.

He also pointed out that marketplaces across Bauphal attract traders, buyers, workers and pedestrians from different areas. The lack of safe drinking water often causes difficulties for people visiting these busy places.

The installation of deep tube wells at marketplaces would provide traders and ordinary people with easy access to pure drinking water, particularly benefiting residents of rural communities.

Dr Masud said the initiative was not merely aimed at addressing water shortages at a limited number of institutions but also at extending safe drinking water facilities to important places connected with education, religious activities and everyday social life.

"Safe drinking water is a fundamental right of every person. Creating access to it for people irrespective of religion, caste, profession or social status is an important humanitarian and public welfare responsibility," he added.
