Mijan Akanda, Phulpur: A cleanliness campaign was held in Phulpur municipality on Saturday morning with a call for people to develop everyday habits that help keep their surroundings clean and healthy.
The campaign began at around 11:00am in the Hospital
Road area of Phulpur. Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Sadhana Tripura led the
campaign, which was organised by Phulpur Municipality.
Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Municipal
Administrator Md. Shafiqul Islam supervised the programme overall. Municipal
Engineer Mahmudul Islam, Administrative Officer Golam Mostafa, Accounts Officer
Raihan Kaiser Jewel, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlish Upazila Vice-President Azharul
Islam and local residents took part in the campaign.
The participants cleaned public areas and encouraged
residents to take greater responsibility for maintaining cleanliness in their
homes, roads and neighbourhoods.
The campaign carried the slogan, “Let’s Change Our
Habits: Wherever I Am, I Keep It Clean.” The message was aimed at encouraging
people of all ages to make cleanliness a regular part of their daily lives
rather than treating it as an occasional activity.
Local residents welcomed the initiative, saying that
such campaigns can help raise public awareness and inspire greater community
participation in keeping Phulpur clean.
The organisers emphasised that maintaining a clean
environment is a shared responsibility. Regular waste disposal, avoiding
littering and collective efforts by residents can contribute significantly to
healthier and more livable communities.
The campaign in Phulpur therefore sought not only to
clean public spaces but also to encourage a lasting change in people's
attitudes and habits toward cleanliness.
