Bus-Minibus Workers’ Union Election Held in a Festive Atmosphere in Pirojpur

Zakir Hossain, Pirojpur: The election of the Bus, Minibus, Coach and Microbus Workers’ Union in Pirojpur district is being held in a festive and peaceful atmosphere. Voting began at 8:00 AM on Thursday and will continue uninterrupted until 5:00 PM. Considerable enthusiasm and excitement have been observed among the workers surrounding the election.

According to sources, a total of 25 candidates are contesting for 13 positions in the union. The total number of voters in this year’s election is around 600. Since morning, a significant turnout of voters has been seen at the polling center. Candidates have also been busy exchanging greetings with voters and conducting election campaigns.

Meanwhile, Jasim Sheikh has been elected unopposed as Senior Vice-President, while Alif Ahmed Rajib has been elected unopposed as General Secretary.

During the election, Pirojpur District Council Administrator Alamgir Hossain visited the polling center. He expressed satisfaction with the peaceful and orderly management of the voting process.

At that time, former Joint Convener No. 1 of Pirojpur District BNP and Senior Vice-President of the Pirojpur Bus Owners’ Association, Sheikh Riaz Uddin Rana, said:

“A great deal of enthusiasm is being observed among the workers regarding this union election. We hope that a fair, neutral and peaceful election will be held, and that the workers will elect their preferred candidates through their votes.”

Candidates and voters participating in the election also expressed satisfaction with the peaceful voting environment.
