Patuakhali Correspondent: MP Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud has said he seeks to uphold justice even toward those who wronged him, stressing that Jamaat-e-Islami does not practice politics of revenge or hatred.

Speaking as chief guest at a relief distribution event in Bauphal on Wednesday morning, the Central Executive Council member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Secretary of Dhaka City South, and MP for Patuakhali-2 said, “I want to do justice even to those who have oppressed me. Jamaat-e-Islami does not and will not do politics of vengeance or anger, because vengeance and anger are themselves oppression. There is no place for oppression in Islam.”

Dr. Masud distributed financial assistance from the Prime Minister’s Relief and Welfare Fund to 1,000 poor and destitute families ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. The aid was handed over directly to beneficiaries in the morning.

He said the government has allocated funds for all MPs to distribute among the poor and helpless in their respective areas, and that his office is ensuring it reaches the people properly. “But there are many MPs who are not distributing the money among the people. In Bauphal too, such grants came in the past, but ordinary people never even knew about them,” he said.

“Now you have elected honesty and competence, and that is why you are receiving this aid. If it were another party, it would have ended with their own party workers. But those coming here today are not all our party people. Many did not vote for the scales symbol. We brought them here too, because we want to establish justice and fairness in society. In providing state benefits, we will not consider which party, caste, or religion someone belongs to. The only consideration is that every person is an honored citizen of this country,” he added.

Addressing local governance, the MP said he has asked the administration to remain vigilant against corruption by local representatives. “Wherever there is corruption in projects, from canals to anything else in your area, catch it and inform the administration. We will take strict action, insha’Allah,” he said.

He urged an end to political mudslinging in Bauphal. “We want to keep Bauphal peaceful and stop mudslinging. Unable to counter us in any other way, some are now spreading slander on social media. We will not answer slander with slander, insults with insults, or humiliation with humiliation. We will answer everything with good work. So let us join hands and work from our respective places to build the Bauphal we all desire.”

The program was presided over by Bauphal Upazila Ameer Maulana Rafiqul Islam. Prominent attendees included businessman Atiqur Rahman Nazrul, lawyer Advocate Mujahidul Islam, and young social worker Siddikullah of Nazirpur, along with other local dignitaries.
