 3,300 small farmers receive free seeds and fertilisers in Phulpur

Md. Mijanur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur: The Department of Agricultural Extension (DAE) distributed free seeds and fertilisers among 3,300 small and marginal farmers in Phulpur upazila of Mymensingh under the government’s agricultural incentive programme for the 2025–26 fiscal year.

 

The distribution programme was held on the premises of the Phulpur Upazila Parishad on Tuesday afternoon with the aim of boosting transplanted Aman paddy production during the Kharif-II season.

 

Under the incentive scheme, each beneficiary farmer received five kilograms of transplanted Aman paddy seed, 10 kilograms of DAP fertiliser and 10 kilograms of MOP fertiliser free of cost.

 

Speaking at the event, officials said the government’s support programme is intended to encourage cultivation, increase paddy production and assist small and marginal farmers by reducing their production costs.

 

Among those present at the programme were Phulpur Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Yusuf, Upazila Agriculture Officer Nadia Ferdousi, Agricultural Extension Officer Kamrul Hasan Kamu and Upazila Engineer Jahangir Hossain, among others.
