The initiative is expected to enhance health and financial security for thousands of students while promoting a safer academic environment.
The agreement was signed on July 19 at the
university's Administrative Building in Dhaka. Following the signing ceremony,
National Life's Chief Executive Officer, Md. Kazim Uddin, formally handed over
the insurance documents to Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain, Pro-Vice Chancellor
of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University.
The event was attended by Professor AKM Ruhul
Amin, Director (Finance and Accounts); Professor Dr. Sarwar Hossain, Director
(Planning and Development); National Life's Deputy Managing Director and Chief
Financial Officer Prabir Chandra Das, FCA; Head of the Group Insurance Division
and Executive Vice President Kazi Mohammad Mohsin; and Public Relations Officer
Amir Hossain Jony, among other officials.
Under the agreement, all eligible students of
Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University will now come under the coverage of
National Life's group insurance scheme. University officials said the
initiative is designed to provide greater health and financial protection,
ensuring that students receive timely support during unforeseen circumstances.
They described the agreement as a milestone in building a safer and more secure
future for the university community.
Speaking at the ceremony, National Life CEO
Md. Kazim Uddin expressed satisfaction over the partnership, saying the company
was proud to extend insurance protection to SAU students. He noted that the
collaboration reflected a shared commitment to building a stronger and more
resilient nation by safeguarding the country's future generation.
"This agreement is more than a formal
contract," he said. "It represents our firm commitment to the health,
safety and future of the students. We sincerely thank the university
authorities for placing their trust in National Life."
Professor Dr. Md. Belal Hossain welcomed the
initiative and expressed confidence in National Life's ability to implement the
programme efficiently.
"National Life has earned a strong
reputation and possesses the institutional capacity to deliver quality
insurance services," he said. "We believe the company will fulfil its
responsibilities with professionalism and integrity. This agreement will stand
as an important welfare initiative for our students."
Education experts have increasingly emphasized
the importance of institutional insurance schemes, particularly as universities
seek to improve student support systems. The SAU-National Life partnership
reflects a growing recognition that insurance can play a vital role in
protecting students against unexpected health and financial risks while
allowing them to pursue their academic goals with greater peace of mind.
The agreement also highlights a broader trend
of collaboration between educational institutions and the insurance sector,
aimed at promoting social security, financial inclusion and student well-being
in Bangladesh.
