Tangail District’s newly appointed Executive Engineer, Jahanara Parvin, has protested a news report published on 20 July in separate headlines in the print version of Daily Rupali Bangladesh and on Asia Post Digital.Calling the published report “fabricated, motivated, concocted, and baseless,” she stated in her protest letter that the news was intentionally published at the instigation of certain individuals to humiliate her.She said this has seriously tarnished her reputation, the reputation of the department, and that of the present government.In the protest statement, she said: “By order of the higher authorities, I have recently been appointed as Executive Engineer of Tangail District. As a female officer, I also have the right to this position. During my service, I have performed the duties assigned to me with honesty and dedication to the satisfaction of the authorities, both as Executive Engineer in Jamalpur and Sherpur districts, and as Senior Assistant Engineer in Tangail District.It is noteworthy that I am a native of Tangail District. I have a heartfelt connection with the soil and people of Tangail. I also have extensive experience and a thorough understanding of implementing development works in Tangail.After I was recently promoted and ordered to work as Executive Engineer in Tangail District, a former Executive Engineer, to tarnish my image, the department’s image, and that of the present government, and to serve his own interests, became angered and spread false information about me on Facebook and in various media outlets, which is completely fabricated.It may be mentioned that I served under the former Executive Engineer for about 14 months until 12/07/2026. During this period, he could not prove any fault on my part nor inform my department about it. On 16/07/2026, I assumed charge as Executive Engineer in Tangail. On the same day, the former Executive Engineer, Mr. Kamruzzaman, was ordered to join the LGED Headquarters.Furthermore, the report stated that my husband is involved in contracting work, for which there is no specific information or evidence. As a member of the Tender Evaluation Committee for government procurement, I performed my duties properly. In the case of tenders, the recommendations are sent to the concerned authority for approval with the signature and decision of the Chairman of the Evaluation Committee, the Executive Engineer. The information published regarding this matter is not correct and is completely false.The allegation that I used government vehicles for personal purposes is also false and baseless. In the past, no contractor or senior authority in Tangail District has ever expressed dissatisfaction with me.The former Executive Engineer also alleged that I exerted political influence, which is completely false, fabricated, baseless, and motivated. Such false information from a senior Executive Engineer is not at all expected. If there had been any irregularity against me, he could have asked me for an explanation and officially informed the higher authorities. Since there was no such complaint against me, he has intentionally spread completely false, fabricated, and concocted news against me on social media and to various individuals.”“I strongly condemn and protest this news with deep resentment and anger.”Jahanara Parvin Newly Appointed Executive Engineer  LGED, Tangail District
