‎‎Zakir Farazi: ‎The Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-8) has arrested a suspected member of a counterfeit currency syndicate during a raid in Madaripur's Kalkini upazila, recovering counterfeit banknotes with a face value of Tk 164,750 along with equipment allegedly used to produce fake currency.‎The information was disclosed in a press release issued by RAB-8, CPC-3, Madaripur Camp on Saturday (July 19).‎According to the statement, acting on a tip-off, a RAB team conducted a raid at around 3:30 pm on Friday in the Char Charamohan area of Lakshmipur Union under Kalkini upazila. During the operation, they arrested Din Islam Dhali, 30, from his residence. However, two to three other suspected members of the group managed to flee after sensing the presence of the law enforcers.‎RAB claimed that during preliminary interrogation, the suspect admitted to possessing and supplying counterfeit currency to different individuals over a long period. Based on his information, the elite force searched the house and recovered counterfeit notes along with materials allegedly used in producing fake currency.‎The seized items include a black printer, two adapters, two rulers, special printing ink, two white chipboards, a Vivo Android smartphone and a large quantity of A4-sized paper, which investigators believe were used in the production of counterfeit banknotes.‎RAB alleged that the suspect and his associates were involved in manufacturing and distributing counterfeit currency. Legal proceedings have been initiated against the arrested individual under Section 25K of the Special Powers Act, 1974, while efforts are underway to arrest the remaining suspects who fled the scene.‎In the statement signed by Superintendent of Police Mir Monir Hossain, Company Commander of RAB-8, the force said its intelligence surveillance and operations against counterfeit currency syndicates would continue across the region. ‎
