Special seminar on “Intellectual Property” held at DU

DU Correspondent: A special seminar titled “Intellectual Property: Research to Revenue” was held today 21 July 2026 at the Conference Room of the Faculty of Pharmacy of Dhaka University. The Faculty of Pharmacy of Dhaka University organized this event focusing on intellectual property, innovation & technology transfer in the field of pharmaceutical innovation.

The program was chaired by Professor Dr. Md. Khalid Hossain, Dean (Acting) of the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Dhaka. The opening remarks were delivered by Professor Jakir Ahmed Chowdhury, Chairman, Department of Pharmacy.

The keynote presentation was delivered by Dr. Feroz Ali, an internationally renowned Intellectual Property Law Scholar and Patent Capacity-Building Specialist. Ms. Taslima Jahan, Intellectual Property Consultant and Academic, participated as the discussant.

The seminar highlighted the growing importance of intellectual property (IP), patents, innovation, and technology transfer for Bangladesh's pharmaceutical sector, particularly in the context of the country's upcoming graduation from Least Development Country (LDC) status.
