Khaled Ahmad, Pabna: The Rotary Club of Pabna New City has concluded a month-long tree plantation campaign aimed at promoting environmental protection and expanding greenery in different areas of Pabna.The closing ceremony of the 2026 tree plantation programme was held at noon on Monday in Bhatapara, Launch Ghat, Banglabazar and Char Ghoshpur Lakkhitola areas of Himayetpur Union under Pabna Sadar upazila.As part of the concluding phase, mango, almond and other fruit-bearing trees were planted along both sides of roads under a project led by Rotarian Sirajul Islam, President of the Rotary Club of Pabna New City.Speaking at a brief discussion held on the occasion, Charter President and Chief Guest Rotarian PP Abul Hossain PHF stressed the environmental importance of trees and their immense contribution to human life.Project Chair Rotarian Advocate Md. Belal Hossain highlighted various aspects of the initiative, while Rotarian Sirajul Islam PHF and Rotarian Mukaddis Alam PHF (IPP) also spoke at the programme.Rotarian PP Abu Md. Morshed PHF, Executive Secretary of the club, moderated the event.Rotarian PP Altaf Hossain MPH​F, Rotarian Nurunnabi Khan Humu, Rotarian Rajib Hossain and Rotarian Azizul Hakim Shihab were also present.The month-long campaign was launched on July 1 following the assumption and handover of responsibilities of the Rotary Club of Pabna New City’s new committee for the 2026–27 Rotary Year.Under the leadership of newly appointed President Rotarian Sirajul Islam PHF, the campaign began at Banglabazar Launch Ghat with the plantation of mango, jamun, jackfruit, guava and other fruit-bearing trees.Throughout the month, the club carried out plantation activities in different locations, focusing on increasing greenery, protecting the environment and raising awareness about the importance of trees.With the final plantation activities completed on Monday, the Rotary Club of Pabna New City formally brought the month-long campaign to an end, marking another community-focused initiative by the organisation toward building a greener and healthier environment.
