Special Correspondent: The election of the Greater Noakhali Paper Merchants Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd will take place on 22 August, with members showing growing interest in the race for key posts.
Monir
Hossain, who is contesting the general secretary post with the Moy (Scale)
symbol, has emerged as a prominent name among voters ahead of the election.
Monir
brings extensive experience in business, professional organisations and social
activities. He owns M/s Shahjalal Paper Store and M/s Saimum Trade
International and serves as managing director of Real Assets Ltd.
He also
holds several positions in professional organisations. Monir serves as joint
general secretary of the Bangladesh Paper Merchants Association and is a member
of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB). He also
serves on REHAB’s Standing Committee for Printing and Publication for the
2026–2028 term.
Earlier,
Monir served as a director and joint secretary of the Dhaka Paper Traders
Multipurpose Cooperative Society Ltd. He also served as election commissioner
of the same society in 2011 and 2014.
Speaking
about the election, Monir said his main priorities would be protecting members’
interests, strengthening cooperation among them and making the society’s
activities more transparent and dynamic.
“I have
worked with businesspeople and various social and professional organisations
for a long time. If the members entrust me with the responsibility, I will work
with utmost sincerity to fulfil their expectations,” he said.
Members
will elect the new leadership of the Greater Noakhali Paper Merchants
Multipurpose Cooperative Society through the 22 August vote. Monir’s long
experience in organisational and professional activities has drawn attention
among voters as he seeks the general secretary post.
