Online Desk: The 27th death anniversary of Alhaj Mohammad Rafiz Uddin, popularly known as Saki Mia, a distinguished son of Shahadergaon and former Mutawalli (custodian) of Shah Miah Bari, was observed on Sunday, November 8, 2026.To mark the occasion, a Khatm-e-Quran, special prayers and distribution of tabarruk (food offered as a religious blessing) were held at Shahadergaon Shah Miah Bari Mosque. Family members and well-wishers took part in the religious programmes and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul.On the occasion, the family members of the late Rafiz Uddin requested everyone to remember him in their prayers.Alhaj Mohammad Rafiz Uddin was remembered with respect for his association with Shah Miah Bari and his contributions to the family and community.Among his eight accomplished children is Mohammad Anwar Shawkat Afsar, a prominent Bangladeshi businessman, social worker and corporate leader. He is currently serving as president of the Latin America Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LABCCI).He is also a former Lions District Governor and Multiple Council Chairperson of Lions Clubs International District 315 Bangladesh. In addition, he has held leadership positions in various chambers of commerce and industry.Afsar is the Managing Director of Saki Group and has been actively involved in business development, social welfare and professional organisations.The 27th death anniversary provided an opportunity for family members, relatives and the local community to remember the late Rafiz Uddin's life and legacy, while seeking divine blessings for his departed soul.
