Fakhrul Islam Wins Big in REHAB Polls Amid Record Turnout

Business Correspondent: M. Fakhrul Islam, Managing Director of Intech Properties Limited, has been elected as a Director of the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB), securing a decisive victory in one of the organization’s most competitive elections in recent years.

The election, held at Hotel InterContinental in the capital, took place from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM without interruption and witnessed a strong voter presence. Out of 673 registered voters, 570 cast their ballots, reflecting a high level of engagement among members.

A total of 77 candidates contested for 29 posts, making the election highly competitive and vibrant. Observers described the event as festive and well-organized, notably free from any conflicts or disputes—an encouraging sign for the country’s leading body of housing entrepreneurs.

Alongside Fakhrul Islam’s victory, Dr. Ali Afzal, Chairman of Krishibid Group, was elected as the President of REHAB. Abdur Razzaq, Chairman of ARMA Group, secured the position of Senior Vice President.

In another significant outcome, Dr. Harun Or Rashid from Izzatpur in Feni Sadar Upazila was elected as Vice President, receiving 262 votes.

The results mark a new chapter for REHAB leadership, as the newly elected board takes charge at a time when the real estate sector faces both challenges and opportunities in Bangladesh’s evolving urban landscape.
