Alamgir Hossain Thanks Prime Minister for Declaring Economic Zone in Pirojpur

Zakir Hossin: Pirojpur Zila Parishad Administrator and BNP Central Executive Committee member Principal Alamgir Hossain has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for initiating the establishment of an economic zone in Pirojpur.

Speaking at a press briefing held at the Zila Parishad office on Wednesday, he said that the commitments made to the people of Pirojpur-1, Pirojpur-2, and Pirojpur-3 constituencies before the election are gradually being implemented after the formation of the government.

Alamgir Hossain stated that the proposed economic zone in the Baleshwar estuary and surrounding areas would attract industries, jute mills, and garment factories, creating significant employment opportunities. He added that locally produced goods would not only meet domestic demand but could also be exported abroad.

He said that he, along with State Minister and Pirojpur-2 MP Ahmad Sohel Monjur and Pirojpur-3 MP Ruhul Amin Dulal, separately discussed the issue with the Prime Minister, who later approved the proposal for establishing the economic zone.

He further noted that the government had also pledged to extend the railway line from Gopalganj to Patharghata. Since Patharghata hosts an international-standard fishing port, railway connectivity would open new opportunities for fish harvesting, preservation, transportation, and marketing, contributing significantly to the regional economy. He mentioned that the project has recently received approval at an ECNEC meeting.

Expressing gratitude to the Prime Minister, Alamgir Hossain also said that the long-awaited bridges over the Sandhya River in Nesarabad, the Amrajuri Bridge, and the Charkhali Bridge are moving forward toward implementation.

According to him, preliminary work for the Amrajuri Bridge has already begun, and officials from the Bangladesh Bridge Authority have conducted site inspections. The other two bridge projects are also progressing through the necessary procedures.

“BNP does not believe in deceiving people. We strive to fulfill the promises we make. Since assuming office, we have been working to implement our electoral commitments,” he said.

During the briefing, Alamgir Hossain also highlighted various development initiatives being implemented through the Zila Parishad, including roads, culverts, small-scale infrastructure, and social development projects. He expressed optimism that visible progress on the economic zone, employment generation, and railway expansion projects would be seen in the near future.
