Md Mijanur Rahman, Phulpur: Phulpur Municipality on Monday officially launched a plastic garbage bin installation programme aimed at improving waste management and maintaining a cleaner, odor-free urban environment.
The inauguration
ceremony was held at the municipal office premises, where Upazila Nirbahi
Officer (UNO) Mohammad Yusuf attended as the chief guest.
The event was chaired
by Md. Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Administrator of
Fulpur Municipality.
Among those present
were Phulpur Upazila BNP Convener Alhaj Siddiqur Rahman, former mayor and
Municipal BNP Convener Md. Aminul Haque, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Helal
Uddin Helu, Municipal BNP Member Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Mostafa, Joint
Conveners ABM Mosharraf Hossain and Aminul Islam Liton, President of the
Upazila unit of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Azim Uddin Jamali, Municipal
Executive Engineer Mahmudul Islam, Administrative Officer Golam Mostafa,
Accounts Officer Raihan Kaisar Jewel, along with local journalists and other
officials.
Under the initiative,
the municipality will install 50 plastic garbage bins at strategic locations
across the town to encourage proper waste disposal and help keep Phulpur free
from litter, garbage and unpleasant odors.
Municipal authorities
expressed hope that the project would promote public awareness of cleanliness
and contribute to a healthier and more environmentally friendly urban setting.
