Cox’s Bazar Correspondent: ISDE Bangladesh has distributed food assistance to 200 vulnerable and low-income families in Ward No. 1 of Jaliapalong Union in Ukhiya Upazila, Cox's Bazar, as part of its ongoing humanitarian support programme.
The distribution took place on Monday under a project funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief). According to the implementing organization, the initiative aims to support families struggling with food insecurity and economic hardship.
The food assistance programme was attended by Ward No. 1 Member of Jaliapalong Union Parishad Zafar Alam, representatives Syed Ullah and Nurul Amin, ISDE Bangladesh MEAL Officer Mostak Ahmed, Project Officer Taj Uddin, Project Officer Supam Barua, and other officials.
Speaking at the event, local representatives said many low-income households are finding it increasingly difficult to meet their daily food needs amid rising economic challenges. They noted that such humanitarian initiatives not only help address immediate food shortages but also demonstrate solidarity with vulnerable communities during difficult times.
Union Parishad member Zafar Alam praised the initiative, saying food assistance is crucial for marginalized families facing financial hardship and welcomed ISDE Bangladesh's continued humanitarian efforts.
Mostak Ahmed, MEAL Officer of ISDE Bangladesh, said the organization worked closely with local representatives to ensure that assistance reached the intended beneficiaries while maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the distribution process.
Project Officer Taj Uddin said ISDE Bangladesh has been implementing regular food assistance programmes for both the host community and the Rohingya population, taking into account their humanitarian needs. He added that the organization plans to continue such initiatives in the future.
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support, saying the assistance had come at a time when managing household expenses had become increasingly difficult. They said the food aid would ease their immediate concerns and thanked those who had extended the support.
ISDE Bangladesh said it has previously distributed food assistance to nearly 45,000 beneficiaries in remote host community areas as well as Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar. The organization reaffirmed its commitment to continuing humanitarian assistance to help strengthen food security for people affected by ongoing economic and humanitarian challenges.
