Mijanur Rahman Akanda, Phulpur: Phulpur Upazila in Mymensingh observed July Martyrs' Day 2026 with due solemnity on Thursday through wreath-laying, a discussion meeting and a prayer session in remembrance of the martyrs.The programme, organised by the upazila administration, began at around 10:30 am with the laying of wreaths at the Shaheed Saiful Memorial at Amuyakanda intersection in the municipal area. Participants also observed a one-minute silence in honour of the martyrs.Later, a discussion meeting and a prayer session were held at the Upazila Parishad auditorium. The event was chaired by Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Mohammad Yusuf.Among those present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Md Shafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Phulpur Police Station Firoz Hossain, Fulpur Upazila BNP Convener Alhaj Siddiqur Rahman, Municipal BNP Convener Aminul Haque, members of the families of the July martyrs and injured July movement participants.Upazila Agriculture Officer Nadia Ferdousi, Project Implementation Officer Begum Shahin, Social Services Officer Sihab Uddin, Women Affairs Officer Armana Haque, Upazila BNP Member Secretary Helal Uddin, Joint Conveners AKM Sirajul Haque and Wazedul Islam, and Fulpur Upazila President of Bangladesh Khelafat Majlish Azim Uddin Jamali were also present.Leaders and activists of Jubo Dal, Chhatra Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Krishak Dal and Sramik Dal also joined the observance.The programme was conducted by Upazila Academic Supervisor Paritosh Sutradhar.
